Tryouts for 2011-2012 Season

Time for another amazing season. Tryouts are Monday, November 7th in the Main gym. Sophmores, Juniors and Seniors are at 1:30 pm. Freshmen try out at 4:00 pm. Everyone needs to have the Try out checklist forms filled out, signed and turned in before try outs. We look forward to another fun and exciting season.

Meeting for all girls wanting to try out. 1st Lunch in Coach Waters Room C137 at 11:00. 2nd lunch in Coach Jorgensons Room D256 at 12:30. Must be there to get tryout forms. You will not be allowed to try out without these forms.

Basketball Tryouts are November 8th.

Before you can participate in tryouts you must turn in your Permission and Physical Forms.

You can get your forms from Coach Wardle Rm. C238 or from the Athletic Office.

Dates for Open Gym 2010

It's already time for Open Gym. The year has gone so fast and we are excited for our second year of basketball to begin. Remember coming to open gym is important. Its where you get to practice and improve your skills before try-outs. You also get to see the competition and we as coaches get to see your dedication!

Open Gym starts at 2:30 pm. (Right after school) on these dates:

October: 5,6,7,8,12,20,21,22,26,28

November: 2,3,4,5

Getting to Know Coach Wardle

Coach Weldon Wardle is thrilled to be coaching the Westlake Girls Basketball Team. He loves basketball and has had a lot of coaching experience. He has coached Varsity Basketball for 12 years. He was an assistant basketball coach at the University of Utah. He was an assitant basketball coach at Timpview for 5 years and head baseball coach. He has been involved in city recreation as well. He served as the Hyrum City Sports Director for 7 years and the Lindon City Baseball Director and President for 4 years. His lifetime basketball record is 269 Wins and 135 Defeats. Even though he is very passionate about sports, he also loves teaching. He has 28 years of teaching experience. He has taught geography, history, social studies, government, physical education, and weight training. Coach Wardle graduated from Utah State University, where he continues to be a huge Aggie fan. He has been married for 29 years to his lovely wife Sue. They have 4 children. In his spare time, Coach Wardle loves watching the Jazz and the Steelers, spending time with his family, and traveling around visiting his family. He has had much success as a coach and he truly loves it. He is a fantastic coach, teacher, and person.
